Find rare and collectible 3 inch CDs, which are better known as CD3 singles or mini 3" CD singles. The CD3 singles collector will find cover art photos along with tracklistings / times and other release / artist data from such diverse musical artists as The Beatles, Queen, U2, Madonna and many other artists who have released tracks on 3-inch CDs.
Why a 3" CD Single?
3-inch CDs were to be the digital replacement to the 7 inch vinyl record. Record labels never settled on a suitable package thus one may find CD3 singles released in many highly unusual packages, which adds to their collectibility, but made these singles cumbersome to open and store. While playable on many audio systems some hi-fi stereo systems / compact disc players required a snap-on adaptor to turn them into a standard 5 inch CD. Because of this, 3" CD singles never sold very well and many are quite rare today. They fetch high prices and are hghly prized and collected by discriminating music fans as they often are the missing piece in many music collections and contain rare B-sides or live versions not available on the album. The United States, Great Britan, Germany and Japan were the largest makers of 3" CDs.
